Why travel?
Why not travel? Travel nursing and allied staffing has something for everyone. Many of our travel staff love the adventure of going to new locations, exploring and making new friends. Travelers close to retirement like the flexibility of taking assignments near friends and family across the country. Others appreciate the opportunity to bolster there resume by taking assignments at prestigious hospitals. Travel nursing is a lucrative career move, you’ll typically make 20-30% more a year by traveling. Many people take travel assignments to save for major financial milestones, a down payment on a house or paying for a child’s education.

Who makes a good traveler? What qualities will help me be successful as a travel nurse?
Travelers come in all shapes and sizes but the most successful ones share a few common traits. The key to a successful travel career is having a good attitude and being adaptable. The ability to roll with the punches goes a long way. Each facility does things differently and being able to easily adapt to your host facilities culture will make your experience all the more pleasant for you and your new team.

What kind of experience do I need?
Travel nurses need to be highly proficient in their field. Our clients expect travel staff to hop right in and start working after a short orientation period. We require a minimum of two years of recent experience in your field.

I’m in a full-time position now. Why travel?

What is the process to get started? How long does it take?
Submit a quick application and you will be matched with a Relationship Manager. The process to get started is simple. We’ll walk you through the process, get to know you, and request a few pieces of information (resume, references, a skills checklist) and start presenting you with options. We can move at your pace. We can have you starting your new assignment in as little as three weeks.

Do I get to pick my assignments?
Yes. Your Relationship Manager will consult with you to understand your needs and preferences. They will then present you with options tailored to you.

Can I travel with a partner, a fellow travel RN?
Absolutely! We love travel duos.

How long are travel nursing assignments?
Travel assignments are typically 13 weeks. Your Relationship Manager will discuss assignment lengths with you when presenting options.

When do we get paid?
We are paid every Friday.

How do benefits work?
We offer a full suite of benefits; medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, 401K with company match. You will be eligible to enroll in benefits after a short eligibility period. Your Relationship Manager will be happy to share the specifics with you.

Do you offer sick time?
Yes, depending on the location of your assignment.

Am I an employee of Springboard or a 1099 contractor?
You will be a W2 employee with Springboard.

What is the onboarding process like?
Onboarding will be very similar to starting a permanent position and will vary depending on the client. You will be assigned an Onboarding Specialist to navigate the process for you. We will collect the basics; drug screen, background check, physical, immunization records and make arrangements for health screenings if necessary.

How do I get to my assignment?
Most travel professionals drive to their assignments as this is the most cost-effective method of travel. Travelers traveling to large cities with public transportation will often fly and use public transit. Your Relationship Manager will work with you to find the best solution for you.

Can I travel with my pets?
Absolutely! Many travelers bring their fur babies along for the adventure. Keep in mind that traveling with a pet may limit your housing options. We are happy to work with you to find the best housing available for you and your four-legged companion!

Is housing provided?
We are happy to provide you with furnished short term housing or you may choose to make your own arrangements. Our housing specialists will work with you to find the option for you.

How do I find short term housing?
There are so many options for short term housing. We recommend our preferred partner, Traveler’s Haven. Many travelers use sites like AirBnb and VRBO.

What is the interview process like?
Interviews are conducted over the phone. The department manager will call you to discuss the position, the facility, and department. We suggest having a list of questions ready for your interview. We want to ensure a good fit not only for the facility but for you as well. Your Relationship Manager will walk you through the process and suggest some questions to ask.

What types of licensure is required?
State licensure is required for nurses. We will work with you to determine the correct license needed for your assignment. Allied professional licensure will vary by state. Your Relationship Manager will notify you if a license is required.

What happens after I complete my assignment?
You have several options. Travel nursing puts you in the driver’s seat. If you love your assignment, we will try to get your assignment extended. If you would like to move on to another assignment, your Relationship Manager will work with you to line up a new assignment. If you want to take a break, you can take a break and come back when you are ready.
